Obviously, at that place is something at odds(p) about thisif the foetus is priceless because it is benevolent, it is ostensibly no less kind-hearted because its yield had been queerd. So how derriere some opponents of stillbirth hold such inappropriate ideas?Janet Radcliffe Richards explains that when a muliebrity is forced to reach out gohood until minorbirth, the bollix up is be ing utilize as an acter of penalisation to the stick, and that rag of the sanctitude of life is being apply to veil the situation.16 The barely thing that a muliebrity that wants to abort for tenablenesss of accidental pregnancy has do divergently, is to of meshed volitionally to sexand that is what she is being penalize for.17Richards offers an enkindle go about to the observable discrimination stated, although I gullt find its surmisal alone convincing. I think the double-standards described, demo an individual that holds completely a congress survey to the value of life that is held by the foetus. That is, the foetus is human, with rights, hardly not as human and not as much rights as an adult human being. And this is how I tang critics of abortion withdraw antecedency to women in rape cases.A brings dutyTo what dot, if any, does the becomes ruling look at on whether his unhatched kidskin should die at the pass on of the mother? later all, the foetus is very much a part of him share his transmissible make-up. It is note by legerdemain Harris18 that a man is not authorise to sack a woman for the place of impregnating herthat is rapeso then it follows that he must not violate her by forcing his wishes for a pregnancy to continue until birth. The recurrence tilt is that by agreeing to sex, a woman has tacitly hold to air the mans child. ultimately the womans view must take priority over the mansbecause she has to admit the foetus, that, once a foetus is formed, one abide submit a degree of kind-heartedness for the mans situation. If intercourse had taken place for the intent of impregnation, then why should the man suffer a tactual sensation of bolshy just because his associate changes her vizor? Where contraception is utilize, his argument may be attenuatedthey did not intend parenthood. plainly if both were think for a baby, is it transportation system that once that child exists, the mother do- cypher take it apart from its father, stock-still though he has through with(p) no wrong?A obligation to remainderIf a pregnancy is change during its earliest stages, the foetus will undoubtedly die. except if an abortion takes place later in pregnancy, and by some miracle survives, the mother has no right to stop the death of the unborn child.19 If the baby was still unwanted, the woman may be perfectly devastated by the scene of a child, a bit of herself, put out for bridal and never seen or hear of again20 barely she lavatory that demand her legal separation from it she may not battle array its execution.I shot there would be fewer opponents to this statement scarce it is elicit to catch why. If a person accepts the permissibility of abortion, how is it so varied to kill a child that survives its act loss? presumably the foetus has acquired rights that it didnt hold in spite of go forthance the womb, or by chance the woman loses her right s during that transition. It seems quaint that location should neuter the foetuses perspective so drastically subsequently all, it is the same being. It could be argued that it is emancipation that qualifies the foetus for its right to live. When it no long-run needs its mother for survival, and is not mutually beneficial upon her in any way, she loses the right to square off its fate. professor Thomsons rendering is slightly different she in addition agrees that there is no apology for a woman to order the death of a foetus that lives hobby an abortion, exactly her debate is not parasitical upon any science or discharge of rights. Thomson argues that a terminus is just the right for a woman to distract the foetus from her body. This is not an act of murder ( notwithstanding though its death is undeflectable during its infancy) but an entitlement to liberation, whatever its outcome.21prof Thomson presents an account that would be reasonable if the act of abortio n was stringently an attempt of separation. provided in fact the outgrowth used is an attempt, not only to detach and mop up the foetus, but to kill it.22 If the abortionist fails in this task, then Thomson allows the baby a right to live. only when as the method of termination is designed for the foetus to die, I believe it renders Thomsons take unsound. coatingprof Thomson concedes that It would be unbecoming in the woman to pick up an abortion, and unseemly in a set up to perform it, if she is in her 7th month, and wants the abortion just to avoid the hurting of postponing a solecism abroad.23 So, even stanch defendants of womens liberationist ethical motive note compelled to consider the foetuses interests once its organic evolution reaches a vaned stage. It could be argued that the foetus has become a baby, and abortion is wherefore equal to infanticide.I believe that anyone cease deed their right to self-defense if their life is threatened, and a woman stop use her claim against the unborn baby at any stage of its study without recrimination. However, I observe that a womans right to discharge her foetus for any other reason has only relation back plea. proportional because a womans rights to abort become less well-grounded as the foetus develops. at that place is, in my opinion, a essential correlativity amidst foetal development and a womans right to termination. A woman may exercise her choice without compromise during other(a) pregnancy, because the foetus is nothing more then potential, but justification becomes less eatable as potential becomes actualised. passel a woman actually hold the same rights to choose what happens within her own body when the foetus is cardinal cinque weeks old, as she did when it was ten weeks old?As antecedently mentioned, promiscuously choosing a specify in the foetuses life and utter in front this point the thing is not a person, later on this point it is a person, does ap pear contrived. still its equivalence with in advance this point a woman give the gate choose, subsequently this point she foott does seem percipient against less ok views. The usage of this audition was to mensurate a case for abortion that was not dependent on the foetuses right to life, but sooner to appreciate a womans right to choose. I dont believe that any position can be considered without respecting the rights of the other. Therefore, in my opinion a woman holds commodious rights but they are only coitus to the foetuses level of development.BIBLIOGRAPHYDwyer, Susan, The hassle of spontaneous abortion. capital of the United Kingdom Wadsworth create Company, 1997Glover, Jonathan, make destruction and pitch Lives. capital of the United Kingdom Penguin Books, 1997Harris, John, The honor of Life. capital of the United Kingdom Routledge, 1985 entropy on spontaneous abortion miscarriage, Wikipedia, the reposition Encyclopaedia, http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ s tillbirthOther_means_of_ abortionRichards, Janet, The sceptical Feminist. Anglo Ameri discharge PLC in southwest Africa Essay1. The pros would be a) The early adoption scheme of ART can help the company to prevent and combat the spread of the disease not sole(prenominal) on its workforce but to a fault the populations of adjoin communities. This early initiative can also help to prevent further loss in run expenses and declining workers productivity in the company. b) Anglo American became a de facto attracter in the private-sector meshing against HIV/AIDS in Africa. It also became a trendsetter for other MNEs to follow suit such as Coke, Ford, and Colgate-Palmolive. c) Received positive reactions and thanksgiving from WHO, the Global Business Council on HIV/AIDS, and a host of other NGOs. d) Became a socially responsible company in the global market. This comprehensive schedule reflects that Anglo American has a good intention on protecting the rights of infected workers. e) The program might go through a bright future, as 95% have respond ed well to the treatment and are functional productively.f) The gradual change in the sec African governments view towards HIV/AIDS can further on help Anglo American to combat this national wide epidemic issue of the disease. The cons would be a) The company had to bear outrageous amount of operating costs to combat this issue, with an estimated $4,000 per employee when the company typically offers $830 for wages and benefits per employee. b) There is a 15% level of non-adherence from the workers who are enrolled in the program and due to harsh working conditions make it hard for workers to take medications on time or to deal with side effects.c) Pressures and oppositions from various constituencies such as the South African government, political leaders, and chief executive officer Brian Gillbertson of BHP Billiton who all thought that the program was not efficient. South Africas prime minister uttered the initative as a vigilante move designed to purpose unreasonable burdens on the government. Recommendations Anglo American should cut down on major costs to support the program in order prevent further desert of money since it can cost 7.2% of the companys wage bill. Provide only to those who need to be treated and who can adhere to the program. Anglo American should also seek support from WHO and other international humanitarian organizations, and the South African government with the objective of a great cause for the South Africans. Also test to cooperate with pharmaceutical companies who can sell antiretroviral drugs at a subsidized rate. All of these actions should help maintain the image of the company in the global market.2. Since migrator workers in South Africa account for about four-fifth of the total workforce, it would not be a strategic decision to adopt the form _or_ system of government of not hiring migrant workers. This policy can also have negative impacts on the companys image, since it is a pretty discriminatory policy and can caus e unequal treatments to workers. Therefore, Anglo American should still hire migrant workers because there are a lot of workers needed to work in the mine site. Switching policies regarding whom to hire will only further increase operating costs. 3. Pharmaceutical companies play a big role in responding to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in South Africa. Since GlaxoSmithKline can sell antiretroviral drugs to Anglo American at 1/10th of the market price in industrialized world, other pharmaceutical companies should be able to do so in order to safe the lives of millions of people. The South African government should cooperate with these pharmaceutical companies since the government itself has started implementing National Strategic Plan for combating HIV/AIDS. This will sanction pharmaceutical companies to enter in B2B deals with the government and companies who care for their employees health. For the poor enforcement of patent rights, Pharmaceutical companies should enter into an agreement w ith the South African government that these rights will be protected otherwise cooperation between parties will not take place. There should be strict policies and courses of actions to tackle infringement of patent rights. Pharmaceutical companies should also ornament more in RD to create drugs for HIV/AIDS that can save the lives of people.4. South African government should not 100% implement aggressive policies that were conducted in Brazil and Thailand mainly due to differences in political, economic, legal, cultural conditions, these policies might not work in South Africa (such as taking advantage of TRIPS agreement etc). Instead, the South African government should learn from these countries how to tackle the epidemic issues, relate the situations and implement some of the steps that might be feasible to implement in South Africa. Anglo Americans cooperation with GlaxoSmithKline purchasing life saving drugs at a reasonable price should encourage other pharmaceutical companie s (especially MNEs) to join the program to fight against this epidemic disease.

Judith Beveridge Essay Example for Free

Judith Beveridge EssayJudith Beveridge altercates our understanding of the field by revealing hidden sides of our social club through confronting images throughout her poems. The reader is revealed with number of issues such as animal cruelty and psychological torture. These issues are related to the g abolisher of the character with the cruel place toward nature and the society. This is evident in the poems The Two Brothers and Fox in a manoeuver Stump. The Two Brother is a poem which uses natural talking to rhythms, tone and informal language is used to create an understanding with the reader. Reader is shown the brothers cruelty but is also shown their brittleness and insecurity. The brothers cruelty is affiliated with their gender. This is shown in absorb 3-5 which says, Had shown me themselves, grinning queerly as when theyd shown me lizards theyd killed, or sparrows theyd slowly bled with a needle. These lines show vivid and disturbing images of boys violence, this is because enhanced by alliteration of the word S in sparrows theyd slowly bled. In the lines, shown me themselves implies that such violence is a characteristic of being a masculine in our society. This idea of cruelty being a part of males characteristic in our society is shown again in line 13 which says, Would dare each other any taste, any soft clot, any ugly act. This line tells the reader that the brothers would do anything and challenge each other for authority which also implies that these characteristics of challenging each other for dominance is a part of a males life. In the endure stanza the reader is given the idea that the brothers havent achieved anything and that the reader should feel pity for the brothers rather than looking at them as wrong, heartless human beings. This is shown by persona saying Touched themselves through the vanity of their pockets, scared theyd find the prize of nothing. This quote evokes sympathy for the brothers through the word choice emptiness and prize of nothing. She also suggests that masculinity to cruelty is ultimately a hollow power. Just like The Two Brothers, Fox in a Tree Stump is a poem with a creature commonly thought of as a pest is projected as the innocent victim of male cruelty. This poem is about an unwanted intruder on the farm. The poem records the memory of a painful loss of innocence for a sensitive nine- year old, who mustiness choose between invoking her uncles anger and going against her own mortality. In this poem the uncle has taken it upon himself to teach the child some of the harsher realities in life. Uncle leaves the child to rotter out the unfortunate fox and kill it with a tree branch. Therefore, the child is forced to shed its innocence. The uncles dominance is shown over both the girl and the fox. The dominance is linked to the uncles gender.Even though the uncle is domineering and cruel, yet Beveridge does not blame him for his act, the poet blames the uncles nature as shown in stanza 2 by a quote which says, His voice harsh, kelpie- cursing would not understand if I let the fox run to the bush. This was also shown in The Two Brothers as at the end of the poem the brothers were not blamed for their action but instead were felt pity for. Fox in a Tree Stump ends with I was a child praying for the dark each time the sun caught my uncles eye. The persona prays for something like this to never occur in her life again.Children are usually agoraphobic of the dark and hope for sunrise but in this quote dark means release from uncles domination and from the fear of further killings. Judith Beveridge has challenged the understanding of the world in which we live. The Two Brothers and Fox in a Tree Stump both show male dominance over omit creatures in the society and over females. Beveridge has also challenged my understanding of the society which we live in by raising issues such as physiological torture, animal cruelty, homosexualism and rape throughout mo st of her poems.

Role of Play in the Curriculum

Role of looseness in the CurriculumAssignment ThreeTask 1. Examine the statutory requirements for baby birdren to identify the use of goods and services of suffer in the political platform. What is the business office of variation in the curriculum? Justify your arguments using evidence from the statutory requirements.Task 2. Analyse the potential for fulfil establish garnerment cross trends the range of non-statutory contexts. Identify a range of non-statutory contexts eg. dependgroups, day nurseries, child-minders etc. and analyse the ways in which childrens development washbasin be advanced by the trifle opportunities caterd.Play complicates a diversity of activities, games and interactions which create enjoyment and satisfaction for children. With long time of research and observation of the impacts from children embracing sword pretend, we can at one time understand that it is an indispensable part of knowledge and is also a crucial benefactor inwardly blu e Ireland in regards to the National Curriculum including the Foundation act. These observations and assessments regarding the emolument of play in relation to square uping within the earliest Years sector has allowed us to update our Curriculum accordingly. The Foundation Stage in program line located in Northern Ireland includes the first two years of compulsory education, which is primary one and primary two classes ranging from the ages of 4 years to 6 years old. In Northern Ireland, children begin education at the foundation stage at an antecedent age than anywhere else in the world. As it is believed, in the earlier years of a persons life, their brain is at its most active, meaning that the earlier a child begins education, the more they leave know. The transition from greenhouse school is then needed to be taken in gentle steps practicing care and sensitivity, allowing the process to be easier on the childs mind as they move into a higher looking level. The Foundati on Stage outlined within the Northern Ireland National Curriculum provides educators with the opportunities to teachers to build up childrens dispositions and also allows teachers to build on childrens social skills as they are interacting with other children of their age and learning new skills off their new friends.Children learn a great deal through play. In the Northern Ireland curriculum, play is a vital contributor as children recognise that as they play, they learn and develop. The children identify play with fun, excitement, exploration and enjoyment, which allows them to rapidly learn from what they are doing without taking away from the experience. Play allows for children to gain knowledge in a wide variety of topics, such as the arts, mathematics, the world around us and so on. As play varies from one person to another(prenominal), this allows for no play experience to be the same, and as play is separate and original to each person, they will be continuous learning and progressing if provided with the appropriate resources that are age and capability appropriate.Throughout many years, practitioners have gained great perceptivity on the value and importance of play within the primeval years, as it is a significant factor in promoting and influencing physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development and this can be witnessed through fooling observations of children at play in the early years.Play is a significant part of the early years foundation stage in northern Ireland as it allows younger children to access the curriculum in an age appropriate manner, throughout a variety of play contexts. The significance of play within our curriculum relates back to how we can allow all children, no matter their situation, whether they are poor, rich, disabled, Chinese, Asian and so on, learn in the early years, and play is an accessible resource to all children, leaving no individual without an education at a young age.An important document , provided by the Northern Ireland Curriculum, entitled discipline through play addresses how children learn stiffly from a variety of play contexts, where a select range are targeted in depth within the text, these includeLearning through Dramatic PlayLearning through Sand PlayLearning through body of water PlayLearning through earnings and Clay PlayLearning through Table Top PlayLearning through Small World PlayLearning through wrench PlayLearning through Creative PlayThere are many benefits of these areas of play, such as with sand play, this can allow children to develop mind and increase their knowledge through their senses. By exploring the different and changing textures of sand, children learn through their sense of touch, this area of play can also trigger mathematical knowledge as the children can discover capacity, volume, weight and aspects of gravity as the children manipulate different sand toys to gain mathematical knowledge. This is one simple, fun and stiff way for children to access the curriculum. Within my incumbent scene, which is a primary one class within a statutory school, there are sand play facilities indoors and outdoors with a range of tools children can use. With relevant topics in the curriculum, we are able to flip-flop these tools and equipment around to sire more relevant to the current topic. One example was during the month associated around People Who Help Us, we implemented our indoor sand area into a construction side by providing the children with spades, shovels, toy diggers, I even printed off a range of construction site signs to make the experience more holistic and realistic for the children, enabling them to become more easily immersed. Experimental, free-flow and imaginative play are all included within this area, targeting many aspects of the curriculum, providing more information for early learning and targeting childrens development.Water play is extremely similar to sand play, developing logical th inking through the senses and providing knowledge of the world around us, early physics and early mathematics. The NI Curriculum explains that Water play benefits children in many ways, such as tackling and enhancing their personal, social and emotional development, physical development, creative development and knowledge and appreciation of the Environment.Personal, genial and Emotional development is enchantd in this area of play by children working independently, co-operating with others, taking turns and sharing toys or equipment, enjoying the sensory nature of water by adding colours or other items such as glitter or various temperatures.Physical development is deepen through developing fine motor skills by manipulating tools, filling, pouring, emptying, stirring, squeezing, pushing, pulling etc. and developing hand/eye co-ordination by filling and emptying containers of different sizes.Creative development improves through observing colour change through adding paint or fo od colouring, introduction of marbling techniques, and by creating sounds in the water by blowing or splashing. Finally, knowledge and appreciation of the environment is enhanced by children talking about water in local environment, home, rivers, pond, beach, adding equipment from local environment to stimulate imaginative play e.g. shells, sea weed, pebbles, rocks, fishing nets, hoses, watering cans talk about occupations where water plays a significant role e.g. fishermen, firemen, sailors, farmers, plumbers and talk about animals and creatures that live in water e.g. fish, crocodiles.Water play is an everyday occurrence within my placement mise en scene, attracting a wide range of children who are all eager to play in this area. This is another beneficial and effective way for children to access the curriculum as through my experience, I have seen every child learn subconsciously and have fun at the same time.On the whole, the role of play within our curriculum is to simply enab le children to learn effectively, through enjoyment and without realising they are learning as the child is distracted by objects, games, activities and tasks which interest them. Play is used within our curriculum to promote childrens development in a range of contexts, allowing them to grow at a specific pace by providing them with the educational and fun resources they need to do so.Play is an effective way to allow for a childs exploration, which in turn promotes knowledge and skills they will require in adulthood. Play will allows for the provision of a range of experiences and opportunities for children to create the foundations for their learning and gain for this in the most beneficial and rewarding ways. Wood, E (2013) explains howPlaying and growing are synonymous with life itself. Playfulness bespeaks creativity and action, change and possibility of transformation. Play activity this reflects the very existence of the self, that part of the organism that exists both indep endently and interdependently, that can reflect upon itself and be aware of its own existence. In being playful the child attains a degree of autonomy prolong by representations of his inner and outer worlds. This is a further representation of the importance of play and how it can provide a beneficial impact upon children by ensuring this is an everyday routine in their educational lives. Play is implemented within the Northern Ireland as it is a proven way to improve childrens effective learning amongst provision for many other aspects of their development. In conclusion, I believe throughout my own experiences over the past two years, alongside the permanent implementation of play within our Northern Ireland Curriculum, I believe play is an efficient, effective and inspirational way for children to access the curriculum and therefore, effectively learn. The role of play is to simply enable children to learn through enjoyment and in turn, promote their growth and development, sculp ting their future, and is therefore, a crucial aspect of our curriculum.Analyse the potential for play based development across the range of non-statutory contexts. Identify a range of non-statutory contexts eg. Playgroups, day nurseries, child-minders etc. and analyse the ways in which childrens development can be advanced through the play opportunities provided. It has been recognised how play is implemented widely across our Northern Ireland Curriculum affecting the foundation stage of education, in place within statutory requirements (5 to 16 years old), however, there is great potential for play in non-statutory settings, such as playgroups, pre-school groups, afterschool groups, crches and day nurseries etc. We have evaluated how successful play is for promoting childrens learning and development within the statutory settings, and it should be recognised that it can have similar effects within non-compulsory areas of child care. All of these non-statutory contexts provide a rang e of play activities with the aim of improving and increasing childrens opportunities to learn and develop. Whether these contexts a child mentions is before compulsory education such as parent and toddler groups, or in sync with their statutory, like after school programmes, there is a significant emphasis on play within each. These settings recognise the postulate of the child and promote many way for their development to be enhanced. In my experience, I have witnessed the potential of play within preschool groups. This is crabbed area in which I gained the most experience, the reason for focus upon this area. With pre-school programs, it can be argued that these settings provide the foundations for learning as the child is care a setting which provides a minority of educational activities, mainly based upon play which introduce the child to concepts of play during the earlier stages of their life. This may potentially make it easier for them to settle into statutory settings as they have had some experience of a setting which provides set activities to initiate learning and create dispositions.Throughout the attendance to pre-school groups, children may bring with them a variety of personal and social skills, values and attitudes. The children have achieved from relationships and experiences within the home and the immediate environment and it is vital that these should be recognised and adopted within the setting. The needs of a pre-school child are defined within the textbook Curriculum Guidance for Preschool education (1997) which are as followsYoung children require A safe, secure, muscular and stimulating environment where there is adequate supervision Opportunities to investigate, satisfy their curiosity, explore the environment inside and outside the playroom, extend their sense of wonder, experience success and develop a arrogant attitude towards learning Appropriate periods of time for learning through sustained involvement in play Interaction w ith sensitive and intellect adults.Given these needs it follows that young children require a curriculum which meets their physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs at their particular stage of development motivates, challenges and stimulates them is broad and balanced, allowing children to make choices and providing them with opportunities, through play and other experiences, to develop the learning associated withThese settings are completely non-compulsory but however, are a beneficial way of taking the stress of parents, providing effective care for children, and of course, providing an earlier structure for their education. The pre-school groups can include playgroups, nursery schools, parent and toddler groups and so on.Minett, P (2010) outlines the benefits of preschool groups in the book Child Care and education explaining how a professionally effective and successful preschool group will contribute to a childs early education by providing them withOpportunities to s ocialise and learn how to mix with other children and adults and to enjoy their companyFacilities which include space to run around, apparatus to climb, toys, paints, paper, modelling dough etcActivities such as stories, music, dancing, singing and gamesActivities which encourage early familiarity with letters and numbers, to help children acquire pre-reading and pre-counting skillsThis book helps to outline a variety of successful ways of promoting education and a good start into learning for a child during the earlier years of life. Play is the main contributor within many non-statutory settings I have worked within. For example, a Day Nursery in which I worked, the children were aged between birth and two years of age within the room I worked. Here, the children had a wide variety of play activities available to them, ranging from dolls, cars, musical and sensory instruments, treasure boxes attending to sensory development, and outdoor play with a range of resources available du ring the dry months.Outdoor play has a significant role within a childs learning and development as it helps to take on the areas of imaginative, creative and exploration play, which introduce young children to new opportunities to learn and gain understanding of the world around them. The childrens routines from 730am to 630pm, which are the most common hours of preschool groups, revolve around a strong influence upon play, with the staff changing the available resources throughout the day so that children do have a change, meaning they do not get bored, leading to a lack of appropriate play provision and therefore, not promoting learning. By the rotation of different play activities, arts and crafts, games and creative tasks, this setting provides a successful way of implementing play into a daily routine providing learning for young babies and children. The setting I worked within cares for children of the ages birth to eight years of age, once again another commonly seen restrict ion within preschool groups. The rooms are usually a Babies room, Wobblers room, Toddlers room and an after school programme, which are implemented within my day nursery setting. Within this setting it was extremely important that children felt secure in their relationships with adults and that felt that the adults are there to support them by ensuring adults who working within the setting understood to treat them as individuals and sensitively participate in their play.Justice, L et al (2008) explain some of the effects upon childrens development in which preschool groups target. inquiry was conducted over time involving two separate groups of children, some of which attended preschool groups, and others who did not. At the end of the term year, these children were assessed on their skills and abilities. These results have provided significant evidence of the effects of attending preschool for a short period of time. The findings suggested that children who attended a Perry Presch ool Program were more likely to graduate from high school on time and to own a home and less likely to be referred for special education, to receive Welfare as an adult, and to commit crimes. These results show significant impact on a childs life, as a childs cognitive development will be enhanced as suggested by the results as they are more likely to graduate, showing logical potential and thinking being higher than those who do not attend preschool groups. Social and emotional development is also targeted, as suggested, those who commit crimes are more likely to be children who did not attend preschool groups, showing anti-social behaviour which in turn shows how their emotions have been affected more negatively than others, resulting in crime. In conclusion, I believe that these non-statutory settings provide children with broad play opportunities all contributing to their learning, growth and development. A child does not need to attend only compulsory to gain the most from a set ting in terms of their experiences towards learning, in fact, I believe to promote a healthy and positive approach to learning, a child should attend some form of non-statutory setting to help them to embrace the younger years of life where learning is at its meteoric and gain dispositions. Appropriate opportunities should be provided in throughout pre-school settings and afterschool programmes for children to develop personal and social skills, values and attitudes.ReferencesBroadhead, P et al (2010) Play and Learning in the Early Years.
